Dell recommends 2 GB of memory for Vista
Published October 28th, 2006 in TechnologyMicrosoft recommends 1GB of memory for Windows Vista to run comfortably. Dell on the other hand, recommends at least 2GB. Somehow this doesn’t sound all that surprising, considering that Windows XP recommended 128MB, and ran slow if you had anything less than 256MB RAM (and even then it was pushing it unless you ran the bare minimum of applications, anything requiring any amount of memory and you need 512MB to get good performance). However, while desktops are selling with a reasonable 1GB of RAM, laptop PCs are still coming with 512MB standard which will surely provide sub-par performance on Vista. Hopefully this means we’ll be seeing some price drops in the near future on notebook memory, and at least 1GB will come standard on them.
