VideoJug: YouTube for how-to videos.
Published August 15th, 2006 in TechnologyVideoJug has an interesting idea. Take the idea of YouTube, but rather than just allowing any old crap on there, make it strictly for informative how-to videos. The quality of video is much higher than that at YouTube as well, there are much fewer blocky artifacts. This could be a very helpful place to find out how to do things by example. In addition, for bloggers that publish instructional content, this would be a much better place to host your videos than YouTube as well because of the higher video quality, not to mention you’re only competing against other how-to videos on the site, not everyone who has a camera. What will be interesting to see though, is whether or not this company has a viable business model. One of YouTube’s key problems right now is the lack of a sound business model, but this site, with it’s much tighter targetted audience, and high level of ability to target for contextual advertising and affiliate programs, could succeed.
