The Ubuntu New User Network (NUN) is the latest in the Ubuntu community’s pursuit to make Ubuntu dead easy for Linux newbies to learn and use. Basically, it’s a support group of Ubuntu users who volunteer their time to help new users with their Ubuntu experience. The media is a set of IRC channels, specifically a support channel where users can ask the volunteer mentors questions and get answers quickly, as well as a classroom channel where seminars will be given about how to do specific things in Ubuntu. I think this is a great idea, as proper support is instrumental in moving Linux to the mainstream. If this is anything like the Ubuntu forums, I think it will be a resounding success.
