AMD to drop ATi brand
Published August 7th, 2006 in Gaming, TechnologyNot long after AMD’s acquisition of ATi, the chip giant has decided to drop the ATi name from all of it’s graphics products. This means we’ll probably start seeing AMD Radeons in store…or maybe instead we’ll see some new branding altogether (although in the article it is mentioned that this is not very likely due to the established Radeon brand). Hopefully what we don’t see is a move toward all integrated chips with shared memory, a la Intel. Given AMD’s need to validate their position as being the gaming brand after Intel took the CPU performance crown, I don’t think that this is likely.
