Thanks to the PlayStation 3’s high price (both manufacturing and retail), Sony will probably continue to lose money unless the console ends up being a wild success, exceeding all sales expectations. With a retail price tag of $600 that doesn’t sound all that likely, especially since both Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii (and in the unlikely event that the 360 sees a price drop before PS3’s release, perhaps a few extra game titles thrown in as well) could be had for the price of one PS3.
